  • Conwy River Festival

    Conwy News |

The Conwy River Festival is the premier yachting festival serving the whole of the Irish Sea including the Isle of Man, Ireland and the ports and harbours of the North West of the UK. From the beautiful and picturesque base in the River Conwy this special festival of sail appeals to a wide range of participants including fast racing yachts, traditional working boats, especially Welsh Nobbies and Gaffers, modern cruisers and local classes of one-designs coming from all parts of Wales, the Isle of Man and the North West of England.

Now in it’s 20th. year the Conwy River Festival continues to grow year on year with record number of boats taking part each day of this unique eight-day festival of sail.

The famous LA-LA cruise-in-company from Conwy to Caernarfon has become a significant element of the festival that appeals equally to the cruising yachts as well as many of the out and out racers. Another record entry is expected in 2010 with new and vibrant activities taking part along the way of this two day cruise through some of the most stunning scenery anywhere in the UK. Join our friendly throng in a lively evening of fun during a visit to the oldest yacht club site in Europe, the 11th. Century clubhouse of the Royal Welsh Yacht Club in Caernarfon.

The relaxed atmosphere surrounding the Conwy River Festival has been a major factor of our success over traditional regattas. There really is something for everyone in Conwy, from performance racing, cruiser racing, one-design classes as well as for classic yachts and tan sailed traditional working boats.

There are individual prizes, team prizes, series competitions and overall prizes for best performers as well as specially sponsored trophies for the best performing Beneteau, Jeanneau, Multihull, Westerley, Leisure and one-design yachts taking part.

The Conwy River Festival is as much about taking part and enjoying the magnificent spectacle as it is about winning prizes. The sight of close to 200 yachts in the bay is something unique and attracts ever more attention from significant sponsors as well as television and press coverage throughout the whole of the festival and beyond.

Conwy Quay Day is the opportunity for all of the family to enjoy the fun and excitement on shore as well as in the water. Watch as locals and visitors join hands to participate in skill tests and rowing competitions right in front of the beautiful 13th. century Conwy castle and town walls. With live music and entertainment, RAF and Lifeboat displays, exhibitions and sponsors stands as well as a very popular torch-lit procession for children, Conwy Quay Day is an integral and significant part of the Conwy River Festival and like the festival expands year on year.

Come to the 2010 Conwy River Festival from Saturday 7th. – Sunday 15th.August
